Frequently Asked Questions
How much does therapy cost?
I have a set fee for the cost of each individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis ($175).
What if I want to use my insurance?
I am not in-network with any insurance panels and therefore do not accept co-pays/co-insurance. Most of my patients pay for sessions up front and then utilize monthly bills from our sessions to get reimbursed from their insurance companies. This is called "out-of-network" benefits and is often a part of mental health plans on insurances that provide such benefits. If you would like to see whether or not part or all of our sessions would be covered under your out-of-network benefits, you should call you insurance company using the phone number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
1) What behavioral health benefits do I have?
2) If I would like to see someone who is not in-network, would I be able to do that? (If your insurance company needs it, my National Provider ID (NPI) is 1013326438 and my PA license number is PS017570)
3) Do I have to meet a deductible? How much is my deductible for out-of-network providers?
4) How many sessions do I get per year? Are online/telehealth appointments covered? Are their any limits to my coverage?
5) What is the process for getting reimbursed for my sessions?
How often should we meet for therapy?
I ask that clients come, at a minimum, once a week. I find that therapy can be most useful with the things we are focusing on are able to be addressed on a regular basis. I tend to move towards every other week sessions once a client is getting towards the end of our work as we both monitor how they seem to work without regular sessions.
Do you do online appointments?
I see clients in-person on Tuesdays. Occassionally, I will see people for virtual appointments if they cannot make their regular appointment, but it is expected that new clients will be working in-person. Clients should know that some insurances will not reimburse online services which would require payment out-of-pocket with no reimbursement. Clients should check with their insurance company about this before proceeding with therapy if they are expecting reimbursement. Additionally, because the guidelines around the provision of psychotherapy services over the internet varies from state-to-state, it may be possible that your state does not offer such services.
Would you be open to talking before setting up an actual appointment?
Yes, I am happy to setup a 15 minute consultation to hear a bit about what you would want to work on so that we can both see if it is a good idea for us to setup an initial appointment. Client’s aren’t required to continue if they don’t feel comfortable. Relatedly, I recommend all clients try to see at least one or two more clinicians for an initial appointment as it is paramount that you feel a good relational connection with the person you end up working with.
